In June, I attended the 2024 U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials in Indianapolis. 1,007 of the best U.S. swimmers competed for a spot on the 52 max U.S. team size. For all the swimmers it’s good to remember the following quote:
“The most important thing in the Olympic Games is not to win but to take part, just as the most important thing in life is not the triumph but the struggle.”
Bishop Ethelbert Talbot
It’s also a good quote to remind all of us to focus our energy on the process, not just the results. The struggle, overcoming setbacks and obstacles, is part of the process on the path to doing our best, to become the best, that we are capable of becoming.
